As part of the most recent adidas x Human Made collection, Nigo introduced a modern update of the historic Tokio silhouette. Originally developed in 1962, ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, the Tokio featured a leather upper, thin rubber sole, and the unique application extra, curved stripes around the shoe’s heel. By 1962’s standards, the Tokio cut a stunningly modern figure.

The Human Made update introduced a Primeknit upper and Boost cushioning, while utilizing timeless, classic, athletic colorways. The latest take on the Tokio brings Pharrell Williams, and a whole lot of  color into the mix. The Tokio Solar Hu outfits the Primeknit upper/suede overlays/Boost Cushioning construction in a gleefully vivid, multi-colored palette reminiscent of mid-2000s ‘oddity’ colorways. The old-school gold text box adidas branding is spelled out in katakana characters, while Hu branding features at the heel.
